Avoided emissions from increased utilization with portable chipping
The Project will quantify GHG emission offsets arising from the application of portable chipping technology (Project Condition) to using fiber left remnant by business as usual de-limbing and topping in a marshalling yard or cutblock (Baseline Condition). The Project quantifies use of portable chipping to recover useable wood that otherwise is piled and burned as part of debris disposal: yard cleanup.
Direct Reductions in Greenhouse Gas Emissions Arising from Changes in Forest Harvest Practices
None defined
The Project is a change in forest harvest practice resulting from the implementation of portable chipping technology in a marshalling yard
used for centralized cut to length processing. All emission reductions take place within Alberta from harvests that occur within Alberta. The
location of the marshalling yards changes with each harvest season to facilitate transportation and will be provided in the project report.
