The project objective is twofold: First, to increase the fuel efficiency and
thus reduce combustion emissions attributed to the operation of both lean
burn and rich burn engines. Second, to capture otherwise vented
emissions from engine packing, casing, etc. and re-inject into a natural
gas combustion engine.
The greenhouse gas reductions will be achieved through the retrofit
installation of various engine management technologies on existing or
new engine units within Alberta. This can include engine modification in
the form on air-fuel ratio control, vent gas capture systems, and other
features to improve engine start performance such as improved spark
plug design.
