Aggregated Project for Vent Gas Reduction – Intricate Pool Alpha
The project will involve a variety of technologies deployed to reduce venting of gas from sites that are regulated by AER Directive 060. These technologies may involve tying into an existing flare or a new enclosed combustor or incinerator to destroy the previously vented gas (e.g. combustion for disposal).
In each case, the projects reduce or eliminate natural gas venting to the atmosphere. As natural gas is primarily composed of methane (CH4), which has a significantly higher GWP than CO2, this leads to a reduction in GHG emissions.
These activities are not currently required by law and will help both Alberta and Canada to meet its emission reduction targets. The project will aggregate the emissions reductions from multiple sites.
