Description:

Greenhouse gas mitigation occurs directly and indirectly in this project. Initiation of the project by Verdant Energy Ltd., directly mitigates greenhouse gases by diverting biomass that would have decomposed anaerobically to form methane gas. CO2 is indirectly mitigated through the electricity produced by the biomass power plant that is sold to the Alberta electricity grid, which offsets electricity that would have been produced through the combustion of fossil fuels.

The Dapp Power Electric Generation Facility is located NW of the city of Westlock, AB. The legal description of the site in the SW 1/4 of Section 1, Township 63, Range 2 west of the 5th Meridian.The wood recyling depot is located on the Northland Sand and Gravel Landfill in Edmonton at 231st Street and Hwy 16A in Parkland Country (Edmonton).
