The project will involve a variety of technologies to reduce the venting of gas from pneumatic devices – including both instruments and pumps – in the upstream oil and gas industry, including Instrument gas to instrument air projects, Pneumatic pump electrification projects, and Vent gas capture projects.
In each case, the projects reduce or eliminate natural gas venting into the atmosphere. As natural gas is primarily composed of methane (CH4), this leads to a reduction in GHG emissions.
These activities are not currently required by law and will help both Alberta and Canada to meet their emission reduction targets. The project will aggregate the emissions reductions from multiple sites.
