This aggregate emission offset project completely eliminates methane venting from pneumatic devices at remote oil and gas wellsites in Alberta. This project deploys nitrogen-based technology at each subproject location; nitrogen replaces the use of fuel gas at the well site to operate pneumatics. No on-site power is required and no on-site GHG emissions occur as a result of the technology. One type of instrument gas (fuel gas) is simply replaced with a different instrument gas (nitrogen). As approved in a 2022 deviation request, nitrogen systems are functionally equivalent to instrument air conversions.
It is anticipated that additional subprojects will be added at a later point. The GHG reductions estimated here do not contemplate any additional subprojects.
