Intricate Group Inc. Pneumatics Pool A
The project will involve a variety of technologies to reduce venting of gas from pneumatic devices – including both instruments and pumps – in the upstream oil and gas industry, including:
1) High-to-low bleed projects, which change existing high-bleed natural gas-driven pneumatic instruments to low- or no-bleed versions. This may be achieved either by replacing the old highbleed instrument with a new low- or no-bleed rate instrument, or by modifying the existing high-bleed instrument (e.g. by replacing a relay) so that it becomes a low-bleed device.
2) Instrument gas to instrument air (IGIA) projects, which switch the pneumatic working fluid from natural gas to compressed air. This may be achieved either by installing a brand-new air compressor or by connecting instruments to an existing air compressor.
3) Pneumatic pump electrification projects, in which pneumatic pumps are replaced by electric pumps, or converted to electric. These pumps may run from either solar electricity (generated from solar photovoltaics) or from a connection to the Alberta grid.
This activity is not currently required by law and will help both Alberta and Canada to meet its emission reduction targets. The project will aggregate the emissions reductions from multiple sites.
