A new heat exchange network was designed to more effectively utilize waste heat in the mill. The design employes higher temperature waste heat sources to replace the requirement for steam heating of the paper machine white water. Lower grade waste heat sources are employed for heating of warm water and to reduce cooling requirements prior to effluent treatment. The waste heat recovered by the start up scrubber is redeployed to provide heat to both paper machine white water and mill water, with excess heat vented from the scrubber stack
